These photos were taken during my time diving on Koh Tao in Thailand in late 2018. I love clownfish , also know as anemone fish. Their symbiotic relationship with the anemone is fascinating to me. The anemone provides protection to the fish, who have developed an immunity to anemones sting their tentacles stickiness, while the fish keep the anemone clean. I love shooting them in macro because both subjects are beautiful and it is also a challenge since the clown fish are constantly swimming in and out of the tentacles.
In August of 2017 I got to spend a few days at the Namiri bush camp in the central part of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and it was absolutely amazing. This are had been shut down for almost 20 years to help rebuild the cheetah populations and it showed. We had encounters with with 10 deferent cheetahs, the highlight of which was spending most of a morning with a female cheetah and her 3 young cubs. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do!
in June of 2017 we were fly fishing in south eastern Idaho and the last of the winter storms rolled in. It made for some pretty miserable fishing conditions but the sunsets were totally made up for it!
On on of my first game drives during my stay on the Timbavati reserve in South Africa we came across this very large male elephant. Our ranger had stopped the Land Rover in front of him and since we were down wind it took all of about 2 seconds to realize he was in musk. We sat there for a minute and observed and photographed him. He was a little standoffish and not acting like a normal elephant. He was tossing his trunk around and we could tell that he wasn’t pleased that we were in his path so we decided to give him leave.
On our way from the bush airport to the camp in the central Serengeti we came across this wonderful pride of lions. They had 6 cubs with them and were based around this area that had 4 very large boulders with some brush around it. We stopped to watch them interact with each other and the cubs and it was an amazing experience. We got to spend some more time with this pride over the next few days and it was truly a amazing experience.
The sky is absolutely out of this world in in Tanzania! I was consistently amazed by the clouds, the sunsets, sunrises, sunbursts, light beams and so much more. Heres a collection of some of my favorite shots.
